- Intermediate target: 60% reduction by 2040, aligned with its “Energy that gives life to the transition” Strategy.
- ISA integrates mitigation, adaptation, and circular economy into all its businesses and value chains, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
- Conexión Jaguar will be a key player in offsetting residual emissions with certified, high-impact conservation projects.
ISA and its companies reaffirm their commitment to climate change mitigation by announcing their roadmap to achieve net zero emissions (Net Zero) by 2050. This strategy combines climate mitigation and adaptation actions, with clear goals: reduce 60% of its emissions by 2040 and achieve an absolute reduction of 90% by 2050, based on 2022. The remaining emissions will be offset, aligning ISA with the Paris Agreement and the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C by 2100.
The roadmap, which is based on the corporate standard of the Science Based Targets -SBTi- initiative, positions ISA as a leader in the Latin American energy transition, integrating decarbonization into its business model while maintaining the reliability and resilience of the energy system.
“At ISA, the energy transition is a mandatory step to which we are committed. This Net Zero commitment reflects our determination to act with responsibility, purpose and vision towards a cleaner and more resilient future,” said Jorge Andrés Carrillo, ISA CEO, who added: “The concept of our strategy, ‘Energy that gives life to the transition,’ reflects full alignment with the global carbon-neutral economy.”
A comprehensive climate vision
The Conexión Jaguar program is a strategic pillar to offset residual emissions, as it is a platform with certified environmental restoration and conservation projects in the territories where ISA has operations. “We want ISA to be recognized not only for reducing its footprint, but for leading high-value solutions for other players in the energy system. With Conexión Jaguar, we activate nature as an ally in the fight against climate change,” added Jorge Andrés Carrillo.
The company also promotes a circular economy model that optimizes the use of resources, promotes environmental regeneration, and strengthens the link between sustainability and competitiveness in the geographies in which it has operations.
Being carbon neutral, a decisive step towards this commitment
Since 2021, ISA has been certified carbon neutral by ICONTEC for 12 of its companies in Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Bolivia. This certification covers more than 49,000 km of transmission circuits, 7,000 km of fiber optics and 811 km of roads, which positions ISA as the certified transmission company with the largest geographic coverage in Latin America.
