Interconexión Eléctrica is Incorporated

We were born out of the dream to integrate our country's regional electricity systems; a developing country that needed a new company that would be responsible for the construction, maintenance and administration of the high-voltage transmission network.

Our First CEO

Our first Chief Executive Officer, José María Piedrahita Pardo, was responsible for forming a team focused on creating a company and on development. A team that gradually gave ISA its personality.

Central Grid at 230 kV

"In less than five years, we started operations of the Central Grid at 230 kV, a 537-kilometer construction that interconnected the regional transmission systems."

ISA in the Power Generation Business

We made progress in the development of large power generation projects. And this is how, between the end of the seventies and beginning of the eighties, we started operations of the Chivor Hydroelectric Power Plant in Boyacá.

We Configured the National Dispatch Center

We configured the National Dispatch Center as one of ISA's business areas; we started operations of the Wholesale Energy Market and the Electricity Market and Commercial Exchange System (SIC) were created.

We Made Another Great Leap in Our Transformation

The General Shareholders' Meeting approved the company's spin-off and formed an independent company called ISAGEN S.A. E.S.P., which would operate the power generation assets, which were previously the property of ISA.

We successfully carried out the "ISA, Shares for All" program, an initiative that positioned us as pioneers of democratic shareholding processes in public utilities companies and that incorporated around 93 thousand Colombians as the company's owners.

We entered a new business area, road concessions in Chile, when, with Cintra Infrastructura Chile S.A., the road affiliate of Ferrovial, we formalized the sale and purchase document which allowed us to acquire 60% of the shares the Spanish company held in Cintra Chile Ltda.
